Who is Eligible?
Stray or owned animals that are experiencing severe, life threatening medical concerns are eligible for the Critical Care program.
Applying to the program does not guarantee acceptance. Aid is offered based on BBRR's available resources.
Big Bear Ranch Rescue is not an emergency facility and does not have a staff member monitoring phone or email correspondences at all times. If your animal is experiencing an emergency, please seek emergency care immediately to stabilize the animal until BBRR is able to reach out to you.
How Can BBRR Help?
Big Bear Ranch Rescue can provide assistance based on availability of program resources. Medical assistance will be determined on a case-by-case basis based on the animal's individual condition and needs.
In the case of stray animals, BBRR may offer to intake and assume ownership of the animal subject to available resources. In these cases, BBRR will become fully responsible for all decisions relating to the animal's care. In some cases, veterinary staff may determine that euthanasia is the most humane option for animals experiencing extreme suffering or those with very poor prognoses.
For owned animals, the owner will retain all rights to the animal and be the ultimate authority for decisions regarding the animal's care. Owned animals do not enter BBRR custody unless both the owner and BBRR staff agree to intake the animal. By applying to the program, you are not automatically agreeing to surrender custody of your animal. By accepting your application, BBRR is not automatically agreeing to take custody of the animal.
